Imagine an Enchanted land called “Baby World” [working title] where babies live while they
are waiting to be born. There they work and play and learn the special skills that they will carry with them into the “real” world when they are born. Baby World is just for Babies and everything in it is made of baby things. Each baby there has a Magic Birthstone Belly Button that denotes the month they will be born. Every day’s a Birthday Celebration in Baby World.

The presentation consisted of seven jointed dolls each about 6 inches tall, and a 2 by 3 foot

Never had so much effort been met with so little success. Several companies held the dolls. They liked the look, as usual, but alas, everyone wanted a “feature”.
Mattel tried to come up with a reason to do them. They requested suitcases full of accessories etc. In the end they tested the concept twice.
The tests taught us a lesson. It seems that little girls do not see babies as dressing like adults and doing adult things. Baby dolls should be about care and nurturing.
