GammaX was a Monster Pain! I spent two days screwing with that horrible helmet. I tooled it out to somewhat fit the figure, then I tried to scratch some of the roughest outer surfaces flat, then I coated it with shellac to try to achieve transparency. It still looks like crap. All I could do was erase my way through it with double photographs and Photoshop. All this resembled trying to weave gold out of straw, the end results came out “brass”. Anyway, the main shot is adapted from the original card art, And for its historical value alone its poster like and ok.
There are a couple here I forgot I did. The first waist up is not bad. The second an attempt at a more usable product shot is not so good.
Then two attempts to make him glow:
Ok now I’ll paint the two new figures, But I wanted to get these photos to you as soon as I could, as you may or may not want to use them in packaging, provided there is time. I am not messing around with photographing Astrodite. First of all, she still has the wrong head. It’s really too bad that those two tiny hoses on her shoulders killed her. I would have simply eliminated them, or resculpted them if that upper body couldn’t be molded in one piece as Comet’s was. Two tiny separate hoses, kicking around, would have been a disaster, anyway. Just a new head, considering all the other pieces, wings and things, that already exist, wouldn’t have been all that bad. Or as my wife used to tell a kid who didn’t like the meal, “It would be worse still if there wasn’t any.” I’m finding out that’s true.
