Doggy Bag
Doggies
Heres a
little item that TYCO produced in 1996. It didn't
have a great outcome, but working with Tyco turned
out to be a Joy nonetheless! Everyone there was so
nice and so talented, and for once the final product
was every bit as good, if not better, than the
original prototype. It was called "Doggie Bag
Doggies" and the sketches and catalogue sheets
pretty much explain it all. I've shown a few of what
ended up being dozens of idea sketches for line
extensions, excluding most, as the ideas pictured in
them, might still be potentially salable.

The Doggies were
well received at toy fair and got good initial
distribution. But the commercial turned out to test
badly in focus groups, and Tyco decided not to run
it, but to create a new one to replace it. Meanwhile,
the spring season was speeding by and they never got
their act together in time. So the Doggies never did
get a commercial, This was somewhat embarrassing for
Tyco as the pups were selling better without a
commercial than some of their other new introductions
were, with TV!
To make a long story
short, Tyco admittedly "Blew It!' and they went
out of their way to make it up to us by doing a
really great job on the product they were working on
with us for the following year "COD's."
